While the article is interesting (if depressing), it points to another decline: the decline in the ability to use language correctly. Although one learns to read through the errors, there is one in every second sentence. And this is one of the better written articles on Medium. Like scientific knowledge, the understanding of the niceties of grammar and of the correct use of advanced vocabulary (like “imply” versus “infer”) is in wholesale decline.
