Umm no. They created an immortal catalogue. If you don’t get that, then you missed the point, whatever their sins. And that is an essential distinction between them and the vapid boy bands and insta-celebrities of today. Of course they were silly and immature and Lennon in particular could be a real jerk. But they were kids. They didn’t engineer the culture of greed and celebrity uber alles we see today. They were just swept along on its early currents. All this stern finger waving and judgment… come on. Aren’t you enjoying it up there on your moral mountain top just a little too much?
