This is an interesting point. Batman (Nolan’s version) thinks he is a hero too. Nobody thinks they’re the anti-hero. And I agree (and said in the piece) that MAGA folk see Trump in a heroic light. So yes, I think it’s fair also to frame the conflict as one of two different versions of the hero. I still think, however, that this new “hero” - that those on the liberal side would call an anti-hero - was made possible by the erosion of previously inviolable principles of civil conduct that occurred post 9/11. In retrospect, all this was in plain sight the moment that “grab them by the pussy” did not stop Trump dead in his tracks, the way even his own campaign thought it would.
