This is an excellent article deserving of more attention. Thank you for your insights. I also thought of a fractal, or a psychedelic trip: the bewildering evolution of images that seems driven by a force you can’t quite touch or understand. I tried just yesterday to get the image of a prisoner’s face from Midjourney but it was ridiculous. Everyone looked handsome or wise if they were older. I realized Midjourney has no record of the faces of the real prisoners I knew, or the people like them. It could only churn out these exasperating vacuous masculine caricatures. We’re stuck within this hall of mirrors of our own mainstream representations: slick, gorgeous and lifeless.
