Right on, Alex. I think Musk is a clear case of “absolute power corrupts absolutely”. He has slid into full-blown evil through the complete lack of restraints on his actions. But it’s not quite inevitable: Gates went the opposite direction. And it’s not just power. Some people seem more or less born evil, and also social acceptability is enormously powerful in enabling evil: think of all the ordinary Germans who did evil things once the society told them it was OK to. That’s what has happened with Trump and MAGA: a subculture has been created in which cruelty and racism are now acceptable behaviors.
