In the polls I just checked, support for the war was at 73%, which is pretty much identical to the support for the Iraq war among US citizens at the time of the fall of Baghdad. In other words, this is just typical human behavior after a devastating attack which makes people feel afraid and angry. Obviously I don’t agree with them, but this is not evidence of a uniquely wicked Israeli culture. And honestly that you would attempt to defend the Hamas attack is all the evidence anyone should need of your grossly partisan and morally bankrupt position. One woman - someone no different to you or I who just happened to have been born Israeli - was raped while having a knife repeatedly plunged into her back, as just one example among hundreds. Which does not justify the brutality of the Israeli invasion. But to attempt to defend it? Shame on you. Then you claim that Israeli society as a whole is actually worse than Nazi Germany. A man was brutally raped in prison by soldiers and then those responsible were charged. The news reports you yourself linked noted how shocked many Israelis were. And yes, there were also many who indefensibly tried to justify it as legitimate revenge. Remember Abu Ghraib? This is the tragedy of human violence, nothing uniquely Israeli. And you would compare this with the holocaust, in which the state organized the mass murder of every Jewish man, woman and child they could capture in a years long systematic extermination that killed six million people? I have to reiterate, because you are incapable of understanding the idea of seeing a tragedy in its complex totality and can only jump to simplistic, tribal side-taking, that I deplore the Gaza invasion and I detest Netanyahu and the outrages of the settlers. And the Israeli far right are as Nazi as the Nazis everywhere. But condemnation must be directed at those who organize and commit atrocities. And all
those who commit atrocities, whatever their self justification. By demonizing the entirety of Israeli society, you propagandize for those who would justify the next jihad. “We kill Israelis because they are subhuman Zionazi scum.” And that’s why I say you’re not the voice of righteous virtue here. You’re part of the problem and you don’t know it.
