I don't think this really addresses the problem. These are just some kids with not particularly special levels of tech savvy, and a bit of motivation, and they've easily cobbled together this home-grown solution. All the building blocks are there in the public domain and it's just going to get easier. I agree that the genie can't be put back in the bottle, but any legislative solution needs to address the entire class of usage, not just specific applications, the same way we ban hidden cameras and the use of cameras for upskirting, for example. Use of facial recognition technology needs to be controlled.
