For sure. Nonetheless the experience I relate in the first paragraph is the most common one. People generally don’t know who he is, whereas if I’d said Bohr, Pauli or Dirac, let alone Heisenberg or Scrödinger, they would have. So he’s certainly famous but I would say not *quite* a household name.
