Climate science is a science about what is. It simply says that rising CO2 concentrations are causing rising temperatures, which is actually pretty fucking obvious. It’s high school science, the same principle why greenhouses are hotter inside than outside. Now it’s also true that this temperature rise will have major impacts on humanity and the global ecosystem. That’s just “what is” too. The value-laden activism that comes after that factual science is distinct from it, though many climate scientists also do some amount of activism because they also share the value that suffering is a Bad Thing. But if you don’t, then by all means ignore the science.
